Blue Heron began with a simple idea: bring the right balance of flavor, freshness, and warmth to every meal.
It was founded by Grace Kim, whose love of food has always been rooted in a deep appreciation for the art of the handmade sandwich. Grace spent years perfecting her craft, drawing on family recipes and a preference for fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Each sandwich is put together with a commitment to quality — a taste that feels both nostalgic and entirely new.
From the very beginning, Blue Heron has been more than a restaurant. It's a community hub, a place where people come together, eat well, and make the kind of memories that stick.

Blue Heron is a corner store in Magnolia that serves as a local hub for the neighborhood. Every week the posters change — concerts, art galleries, theatre, whatever is happening around town. The shop has hosted live performances of its own, which has a way of turning a sandwich shop into a gathering place.

Since 2005, we have always tried our best to allow customers to make Blue Heron feel like home, not just a place to eat. Being in the heart of Magnolia, there are many customers who stop by for a bite to eat and also those who have been coming in for many years.
One thing I want all of my customers to feel when they walk in is a sense of comfort and family. From the neighborhood regulars to the fishermen that visit from afar, I want all of them to come in knowing that they're always welcome at Blue Heron.
